Card Catch Privacy Policy
Effective November 6, 2026
Card Catch helps you scan business cards, keep track of the people you meet and follow up with them. It's built so that your information stays with you. We don't run servers that receive your data, and we can't see your cards, contacts or notes.
The short version
• Your cards, photos, notes and events are stored on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud account if you use iCloud.
• Cards are read on your iPhone. Card photos are never sent to us, and they only leave your iPhone through your own iCloud account if iCloud sync is on.
• We don't collect personal data, use analytics or advertising, or track you across apps and websites.
• We don't sell or share your information with anyone.
Information you put in Card Catch
When you scan a card or type one in, Card Catch stores the details you keep: names, job titles, companies, email addresses, phone numbers, websites, addresses, card photos, notes, tags, lead ratings, follow-up dates and events. You can also save your own card details so others can scan your QR code.
This information is stored:
• On your iPhone, in the app's private storage, protected by your device passcode.
• In your iCloud account, if iCloud sync is on. It's stored in your private iCloud database, which Apple runs and only your Apple Account can open. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
We, the makers of Card Catch, have no copy and no access to it.
How cards are read
Card photos are processed on your iPhone with Apple's text recognition. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model fills in the fields and can draft follow-up emails and event summaries. This happens on the device; Card Catch doesn't send your cards or photos to Apple, to us or to any other company for reading.
Permissions Card Catch asks for
Each of these is optional and can be changed any time in the Settings app.
• Camera: to scan business cards and badges.
• Photos: only the photos you choose, when you pick card photos from your library.
• Contacts: only if you turn on "Add cards to Contacts" or save a card to Contacts. Card Catch adds or updates the people you scanned. It reads your contacts only to avoid creating duplicates, and never uploads them.
• Notifications: for follow-up reminders and the due count on the app icon. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone.
Siri, Spotlight and widgets
If you use them, Card Catch makes your cards available to Siri, Spotlight search, Shortcuts and the Home Screen widget on your iPhone, so you can find people and follow-ups quickly. This information is indexed on the device by iOS.
Sharing your own card
When you show your QR code or share your contact file, the details on that card go to the person you share with. Nothing is shared unless you do this.
Purchases
Card Catch Pro subscriptions are sold and managed by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details. To keep track of your free scans, the app stores a count of cards scanned on your iPhone and, if iCloud is on, in your iCloud account.
Emails you send
Follow-up emails are drafted on your iPhone and opened in your Mail app. You choose whether to send them, and they're sent by your email provider, not by Card Catch.
Deleting your information
• Delete a card from its screen, or everything from Settings → Delete everything in Card Catch.
• Deleting the app removes the data stored on your iPhone.
• To remove Card Catch data from iCloud, open the Settings app → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage (or Manage Account Storage) → Card Catch.
• Cards you added to the Contacts app stay there until you delete them in Contacts.
Children
Card Catch is a business tool and isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be shown in the app.
